About Monaluma Studio
Monaluma is a network of calm, nurturing and screen-free learning studios designed to support children through every important stage of their development.
From early discovery and after-school learning to focused masterclasses, we create meaningful experiences that strengthen curiosity, academic habits, confidence, communication, creativity and character.
Children need more than information.
They need calm spaces where they feel safe to explore, ask questions, express themselves, make mistakes and grow.
At Monaluma, learning is not limited to completing schoolwork or preparing for examinations. We help children develop the habits, confidence, independence and life skills they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Our programmes combine thoughtful structure, personal attention and meaningful human interaction within a welcoming, screen-free environment.
Co Founder
Buddhini Widyapathige is the Founder and Lead Facilitator of Monaluma, bringing over 22 years of teaching experience in Science and Mathematics across both local and international curricula.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Bioscience from the University of Colombo and is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Chemistry Education, further strengthening her expertise in academic development and modern teaching methodologies .
Throughout her career, Buddhini has worked with leading international and local schools, as well as global education institutes. Her experience spans multiple international curricula including Edexcel, White Rose, Canadian, and Western Australian systems, giving her a well-rounded understanding
of diverse learning approaches .Beyond classroom teaching, she has:
- Designed academic curricula
- Developed instructional content and learning systems
- Created simplified learning frameworks to help children grasp complex concepts
She is deeply committed to ensuring that every child receives personal attention, guided support, and a nurturing environment, enabling them to grow academically, emotionally, socially, and confidently.
Co Founder
Nuwan Widyapathige is the Co-Founder of Monaluma, bringing over 20 years of experience in business leadership, strategy, marketing, innovation and organisational development across multinational and leading Sri Lankan organisations.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree from the University of Kelaniya and is currently reading for the Executive Master of Business Administration programme at the Postgraduate Institute of Management, further strengthening his expertise in leadership and business transformation.
Throughout his career, Nuwan has held positions including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, General Manager and Head of Marketing. He has worked with prominent organisations including Unilever, Hemas and Softlogic, gaining broad experience across consumer goods, food, e-commerce, financial services, insurance and retail.
This diverse experience has given him a well-rounded understanding of building organisations, developing people, creating strong brands and transforming businesses through innovation.
He is deeply committed to creating learning environments that help children and adults build confidence, communication, creativity, leadership and practical life skills.
Thoughtfully Designed Learning Environments
Monaluma Learning Studios are located in Colombo 7 and Colombo 8.
Our studios are designed to be calm, clean, organised, welcoming and fully screen-free, giving children the space to learn, interact, explore and grow.
Admissions and programme placements are based on the child’s age, needs and the availability of places within each studio.
